Taekwondo Introduction and Taekwondo Tickets

Taekwondo is a modern martial art of self-defense, distinguished by it's quick, high and whirling kicks and the national sport of South Korea. Taekwondo is a Korean pronunciation tae  means "to strike or break with foot" and do means  "technique", or "art". Taekwondo is often translated from Korean to English as “the art of kicking and punching’’ or "the way of the hand and the foot".

The sport has been founded in Korea and is one of the popular modern martial arts. The oldest Korean martial art was an combination of unprotected competition styles created by the three contestant Korean empires of Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla where youthful men  were skilled in unarmed fight methods to build up potency, tempo  and survival skills. It was thought that youthful men with a aptitude for the broadminded arts may have the grace to become proficient warriors.

During the Japanese occupation of Korea  from 1910 to 1945, all facets of ethnic Korean identity were barred or concealed. Traditional Korean martial arts such as taekkyeon or subak were barred during this time. When the occupation ended in 1945, Korean martial arts  kwans began to open in Korea under various influences.

In 1952, at the height of the Korean War, there was a martial arts exposition in which the kwans displayed their skills. In the early 1960s, Taekwondo made its début worldwide with assignment of the original masters of taekwondo to various countries. . The International Taekwon-Do Federation was founded in 1966, followed by World Taekwondo Federation in 1973. In 1989, Taekwondo was the world's most popular martial art in terms of number of practitioners.

Taekwondo first time appeared at the Summer Olympic Games as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Taekwondo was again a demonstration sport at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There were no demonstration sports at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, USA.
